Morrigan's Chicken

Morrigan has adopted one of our adolescent chickens as her own. Luckily the chicken in question is extremely tame, one of our hand-raised ones.
But she carts it around all day. It's sooo cute.

We were a little worried about her hurting him. He seemed a little lethargic, but once she put him down he bounced around fine. She named her "Gray".

Then Morri got creative. She decided to find Gray a house.

So that's Morrigan's new pet. Much better than a puppy, in my opinion.

Morrigan's Birthday Dress

I decided, this year, in honor of my baby turning 3, I was going to sew her a birthday dress.

I am a amateur at sewing. I've done a few simple things a long time ago, like a pillow in high school, a few attempts at cloth diapers, and an apron that is, still, unfinished in my sewing box (but I have the pattern back from my friend so now I can finish it!). So for me, this was a big undertaking. But I figured I had two months (her birthday is in July) to figure it out, and there are a bunch of ladies on a local parenting board who I could run to frantically for help.

This is the pattern we picked out:

Birthday Dress

Only the skirt will be paneled, mixed with plain pink and a butterfly pattern Morri picked out. The top will be a light pink that matches the pink panels. The "Easy!" logo on it gives me hope.

Wish me luck! I'm hoping to find the pattern at Wal-mart (Joann's was sold out) today and start cutting.

Kudos!

My First Beauty

I love my girls. And I don't mean the goats (although I love them too).

These girls:

These beautiful, wonderful, amazing miracles.

These dirty-faced, muddy-kneed, hay-filled hair, grass-stained hands girls.

Morrigan will be 3 this year, in July. I'm amazed. Where did my little snookums go??

And now look at her!

I refuse to believe that picture A turned into picture B. I think that baby is still around here, hiding somewhere, while this alien almost-3-year-old took over. Yup. That must have been what happened.

We've had pretty times:

"Little stinker" times:

And odd times:

(Yes, that is baby Connie.)

It's been a wild ride. I'm both excited and afraid of what the future will bring!

Kudos,
