Slithering Surprise!

I'm going to make this a cut post, because some people are terrified of snakes.

This post contains snake pictures!

Ben called me outside to check out our visitor. We've seen these type of snakes before (Google says it's just a plain ole garden snake) but never this big!

Morri was actually really curious, and didn't seem scared at all. We convinced her that daddy was holding his head so he wouldn't bite, and she reached right out.

Of course, he wasn't too keen on being held, so we let him go and he slithered through the grass. Look how long he is!

And then he sneaked off to the wall and froze, I supposed waiting for the 'predators' (us) to leave. Again here you can see how long he is!

And a close up of his beautiful face:

And then, Ben came in a couple minutes later with these pretty things! We figured that the snake had shed it's skin not too long ago because it's colors were bright and his skin seemed nice and oily. But these were too cool!

Here's close ups of the back, and the pattern:

And the belly. Look at the layers of muscles!

They were both about the same length, which makes me think that there is a nest out there of a few that were hatched at the same time. But this should give you an idea of length... that is a 'standard' sized dining room chair:

(Yes, I am wearing gloves. While I am not afraid of snakes, I definitely are icked out by them, and I am 100% wuss and proud of it.)

And then, of course, a REALLY COOL but REALLY FREAKING CREEPY shot:

Kudos!
